Big Beef Beer Review
By Greg

Gift wrapped Beer

My present to myself this Christmas may be another 6 pack or so of this beer.  As you can see, the Crooked River Brewing Company neatly giftwraps each six pack of its Yuletide Ale for the holiday season.

I must admit, when I first tried this beer, I didn't like it much. At first sip it reminded me of Sam Adams, which repulses me. However as I let it swirl around my palette, I discovered a truly special beer that will make your Yuletide bright.

Like most ales it has a slightly fruity aroma, but there's a hint of spice.Cleveland's home Brew   It became more evident with each beer I drank.  I could taste a little more cinnamon and nutmeg with each beer.  I theorized, perhaps, it was because I was getting drunk and no longer cared.  Fortunately, I had a control to test my theory. (No, I did not drive around the block looking for an officer to give me a sobriety test.)

I always keep some domestic standard in my fridge for my friends who don't appreciate beer, or for when I want to pee a lot. I had some Miller Lite, and in the name of science (and because I was out of the good stuff) I tested my theory.  I popped open the Miller, and discovered that I still had my wits about me.

My palette had adjusted to the full bodied, sensual flavor and feel of the Crooked River Yuletide Ale.  The Miller Lite was like drinking egg water down at the farm.

Crooked River Brewing Co., is located downtown Cleveland, Ohio on the banks of the Cuyahoga river. Cuyahoga, in an Indian language, translates to 'crooked river.'  Please, no jokes about burning rivers. The city of Cleveland has come a long way since then, and this beer does it justice.
